Whatever your aim/goal (even if your unsure about what you want to achieve and if it’s possible I can help give you an idea – I take an honest approach to training and will tell you if you are being too optimistic or pessimistic) is I can help you achieve it by designing a program(s) which is innovative and different and one that will keep your interest alive.
Personal training - by its very name - is a very personal thing. Different individuals have different aims and have different natural strengths and weaknesses (that may aid or hinder them in the pursuit of these goals). Some people also confuse goals with dreams: a goal is something you aim at, a dream is something you hope will happen.
The Stucture Of Personal Training
The aim of personal training is to define goals (recognise dreams), build on strengths and reduce weaknesses. This is
why before a client even starts training, we have two sessions. One of these is a short/informal meeting (which isn't
charged for), where an individual gets the opportunity to explain what they are trying to achieve and what they want
their training program to deliver. This is also a chance for both of us to decide whether we can work
together!
The next session, would involve a 'client appraisal', this involves a set of basic tests to ascerttain fitness, strength and flexibility levels as well as tak skinfold measurements, blood pressure and the like. This is to help define a base line from which progress can be assessed and the fitness program tweaked if progress seems to be falling behind.
By taking into account, what was discussed in the first meeting and the findings from the appraisal session, a personalised training program, for an agreed time period, will be developed. Throughout this program there will be regular re-testing to make sure things stay on track and goals will be met. This may involve training sessions with the trainer once a week, once every other week etc, depending on the individual and what is wanting to be achieved.
The eventual goal is for the individual to take control and responsibility for their own program. True personal training is about empowering and teaching the client how to train themselves.
